Correcting the Position of Spot Color Plates

Correct the position of an image printed using spot color ink.

Depending on the printer, this function may not be displayed.

Procedure
  1. Double-click on the job with the misaligned spot color plate to open Job Settings.
  2. Click .
  3. Use Mode under Quality Settings to select the mode including the spot color.
  4. Click .
  5. Use the Spot Color list under Special Color Plate Correction to select the spot color ink to correct.
  6. Click Test Print under Position Correction.
    The Test Print dialog box appears.
  7. Select Pattern Settings.
    The test pattern has three stages in the plus direction and minus direction from 0 (no correction) in both the scan direction and feed direction. The stages consist of simplified stages that are coarse with units of 5, and detail stages that are fine with units of 1. The following test patterns are expressed using a blue spot color.
    • Simple (5)
      Select this when misalignment is large (when making rough adjustments to the position misalignment).

    • Detailed (1)
      Select this when misalignment is small (when making detailed adjustments to the position misalignment).

  8. Click OK.
    A test pattern is printed.
  9. Enter the Horizontal and Vertical correction values.
    Select the value on the printed test pattern that makes the misalignment between the black line and the spot color line the smallest. Enter the Horizontal and Vertical correction values written in the test pattern.

    IMPORTANT The test pattern correction values differ for each job. Set the default values for each job.
  10. Click OK to close the Job Settings window.
    When size correction is also necessary, next perform size correction.
