3. Creating a Printer Profile (Add-on)

If color matching is not sufficient even when printing with a simulation profile, create a printer profile (media profile).
Procedure
  1. Prepare the measurement instrument and start the media creation menu.
    1. In the main window, click VW7-ICON_HamburgerMenu (hamburger menu) of the printer to be reproduced, or, on the home screen, click VW7_Customize to the right of the printer to be reproduced.
    2. Click Media Explorer.
    3. Click VW7-ICON_ICC.
      The Create Printer Profile * window appears.
    4. Enter Media Name and select Template.
    5. Click Next >.
    6. Select the mode.
      Multiple modes can be selected. Create the profiles one by one from here.
    7. Click Next >.
  2. Configure the media settings.
    1. From Select Mode, select the mode in which to create a profile.
    2. Click Next >.
      If a profile has already been created, a confirmation window appears. To continue, click OK.
    3. Set the Print Quality Settings.
    4. Click Next >.
    5. Under Output Limit Settings, click Print Job.
    6. Specify the Add Job To, and then click OK.
      A test chart is printed.
    7. Check the test chart and specify the amount of ink for the patch where no ink bleeding occurs in Single Color Limit.
      A value such as "75/150" is printed on the test chart. Here, specify the front value, "75." Enter the output limits for C, M, Y, and K.
    8. Click Next >.
  3. Print the chart and measure the color.
    1. Under Print/Measure Chart, click Print.
    2. Specify the Add Job To, and then click OK.
      A test chart is printed.
    3. Perform Measure.
      Perform color measurement as directed in the instructions shown in the window.
    4. Click Next >.
      The Fine Tune and Apply window appears.
    5. Check the density curve for each channel.
      • If the density curve rises to the right, proceed to the next step.
      • If any portion of the density curve is flat or slopes downward to the right, adjust the curve so that it always rises to the right.
    6. Click Next >.
      The Total Ink Settings window appears.
  4. Configure the Total Ink Settings.
    1. Click Print.
      Print the maximum ink limit adjustment patch as directed in the instructions shown on the screen.
    2. Check the test chart and specify the Total Ink for the printed patch that did not result in oversaturation or bleeding.
      A value such as "75/150" is printed on the test chart. Here, specify the back value, "150." Enter the optimal maximum ink amount for the grid part within the patch.
    3. Click Next >.
      The Print Chart window appears.
  5. Print the profile creation chart.
    1. Select Swatch Amount.
      • Many
      • Few
    2. Click Print.
      Print the profile creation chart as directed in the instructions shown on the screen.
    3. Click Next >.
      The Measure Chart window appears.
  6. Measure the profile creation chart.
    1. Click Measure.
      Perform color measurement as directed in the instructions shown on the window.
    2. After measuring all charts, click Next >.
      The profile creation window appears.
  7. Configure the advanced settings to create a profile.
    1. Set the following.
      • Color Separation Settings (Black)
        • Black Start: Sets the density level at which use of K ink should start.
        • Maximum Black: Sets the upper limit for K ink.
        • Black Curve: Sets the amount of K ink relative to brightness.
        • Black Width: Specifies the color range in which K ink is used.
      • Color Separation Settings

        Select from Min, Light, Medium, or Heavy for Spot Color Curve.

      • Table Settings
        Specify the number of divisions in the color space.
        • Size A to B: Select from Light, Medium, or Large.
        • Size B to A: Select from Light, Medium, or Large.
    2. Enter the profile name, and then click Create.
      The profile will be created.
    3. Click Next >.
  8. Perform Steps 1 to 7 to create profiles for the required modes.
    During profile creation, Cancel and Exit can be performed from the Select Mode window. When finished, profiles created up to that point are added to Media Name.
