Customizing Media

In VersaWorks, various media settings (print quality for each mode, total number of paths, dot types, total ink amount, printer profiles, etc.) are registered for each printer. You can create custom media by editing these settings after duplicating one of the existing types of media. You can edit new or existing media without duplicating it if Attribute is set to User Defined in the Media Explorer window for the media.

Procedure
  1. Select the printer to use, and then click VW7_HamburgerMenu (the hamburger menu).
  2. Click Media Explorer.
  3. Select the media name to edit.
If Attribute is set to Genuine, use the following procedure to duplicate the media.
    1. Select the media to duplicate.
    2. Click VW7-ICON_DuplicationMedia.
      The Copy Media window appears.
    3. Enter the desired media name, and then click OK.
The media is duplicated. The changed media name is displayed for Media Name.
  4. Click VW7-ICON_tenkai to expand the list, and then select the quality, resolution, and ink mode to use.
  5. Click VW7-ICON_Customize or double-click the ink mode to edit.
  6. Change the Print Quality or Quality Settings (Calibration Settings, Total Ink Limit, and Profile Settings).

For modes with three layers for layered jobs, click Fine Tune and Apply, Set Ink Limit, or Select Profile to enable selection of Layer. Select a layer, and then edit it. However, Print Quality is a common setting for the three layers.

  7. Click OK.
    The window changes.
  8. In the Media Explorer window, click OK again.
A window appears to confirm that you want to apply the changes. To do so, click Yes.
    The customized media is saved.
The customized media can now be selected from Settings under Quality - Quality Settings - Media Name.
