Daily Shut Down Cleaning Methods

WARNING

Be sure to perform operations as specified by the instructions, and never touch any area not specified in the instructions.

Sudden movement of the machine may cause injury or burns.

IMPORTANT

Important notes on this procedure

  • Before attempting this operation, remove any media.
  • To prevent the print heads from drying out, finish this procedure in 30 minutes or less.
  • Never use any implements other than the included cleaning sticks. Cotton swabs or other lint-producing items may damage the print heads.
  • Do not use a dropper or cleaning liquid other than those included.
  • Be sure to use new cleaning sticks. Reusing cleaning sticks will adversely affect the printing results.
  • Do not put a cleaning stick that has been used for cleaning into the cleaning liquid. Doing so will deteriorate the cleaning liquid.
  • Never rub the print head surface (nozzle surface).
  • For information about consumable items, refer to Inquiries for Consumable Parts and Products.

When an alarm sounds during cleaning

  • A warning beep sounds 30 minutes after operation starts. Stop work, close all the covers, and then tap Finish or Finish All to end the daily shut down cleaning mode. After that, restart the procedure from the beginning.

    13. Suction out some cleaning liquid with the dropper, and then drip this cleaning liquid in the three locations indicated in the following figure.

Firmly squeezing the included dropper and suctioning out the cleaning liquid fills the dropper with enough cleaning liquid: a for one location. In each location, use all the suctioned out cleaning liquid.

      • Flushing sponge: Apply the drops evenly to each location so that it is covered entirely.
      • Both sides of the wiper: Apply the drops evenly so that it is covered entirely to wash away any ink remaining on the wiper and the grooves.
      IMPORTANT
      • Apply the specified amount of cleaning liquid.

A low amount of cleaning liquid in these locations may lead to reduced cleaning efficacy and poor printing quality.

      • When dripping the cleaning liquid, ensure that the tip of the dropper does not come into contact with the locations.

If it does, wipe away any grime from the tip of the dropper so that it does not get suctioned into the dropper.
