Removing Excess Adhered Fixture Material

Remove the fixture material that has adhered to the job.

Brush, blow, or suction off the fixture material, using the appropriate tools for the job until all the excess fixture material is removed. Fixture material remaining on the job will lead to poor quality such as by the job taking on an unintended shape.

Before firing, the job is very brittle and breaks easily. Consider how and where to hold the job, exercising extreme caution when handling it.

  • Paintbrush (especially a brush with soft bristles such as a cosmetics brush)
  • Blower for the camera
  • Air blower
  • Vacuum

When blowing powder with air, it is advisable to prevent the scattered powder from sticking to your body by placing the job in an isolated, narrow space (such as a cabinet for sandblasting). Also, when using an air blower, discharging air with too much force or continually blowing air on the same location may break narrow parts or cut pieces off the job. Exercise caution.
