Step 3: Normal Cleaning Method

If the object to be printed on is set up before Normal Cleaning is performed, After cleaning, perform a printing test. will be displayed on the Normal Cleaning menu screen. When this setting is turned on, Printing Test will be performed after Normal Cleaning even if Nozzle Drop-out Test is not performed.

Procedure
  1. Check for the print head with dot drop-out or dot displacement by viewing the results of the printing test.
    In the case of the figure below, the space from [A] to [B] is head A.

    If the printing-test results are difficult to interpret

    Check the results in a bright location, changing your line of vision. They are visible using the reflection of the light.

  2. Tap Cleaning.
  3. Tap Normal Cleaning.

    The screen shown below appears.

  4. Set the print heads to clean to Panel_Icon_Toggle_ON and the print heads to not clean to Panel_Icon_Toggle_OFF.
  5. Tap Execute.
    Cleaning will start. The details of the operation in progress and the (approximate) remaining time of that work are displayed in the status bar at the top of the screen.

    When the work is finished, the status bar returns to its original display.

  6. Tap Panel_Icon_Back, and then tap it one more time after the screen switches.
  7. Perform a printing test again.
    Tap Execute under Printing Test.

    Depending on the color of the object to be printed on, it may be difficult to check the white ink test pattern.

    Tap Panel_Icon_TestPrint on the home screen, select Cleaning - Printing Test - Nozzle Drop-out Test (Base: Black) in that order, and then tap Execute to make the base of the white ink black, making it easier to check the white ink.

    Nozzle Drop-out Test (Base: Black) is not displayed if the machine is not equipped with white ink.

  8. Check whether there is dot drop-out or dot displacement in the test pattern.

    Missing blocks indicate dot drop-out. Collapsed or inclined blocks indicate dot displacement.

  9. If dot drop-out or dot displacement is present, perform normal cleaning.

    If the problem persists, try performing normal cleaning again. If the printer has been used for a long period, dot drop-outs may not be fixed even after you perform normal cleaning two or three times. In that situation, perform Medium Cleaning.

    If there is no dot drop-out or dot displacement, proceed to the next step.

  10. Tap Panel_Icon_Home to return to the home screen.
