Replacing the Flushing Sponge

The flushing sponge absorbs the discharged ink to prevent clogging of the print heads.

When the following screen is displayed, it is time to replace the wiper.

Procedure
  1. Press [ENTER] when the following screen appears.

  2. Remove any media.
  3. Press [MENU].
  4. Press [▼] several times to display the following screen.


  5. Press [▶] once, and then press [▼] several times to display the screen shown below.


  6. Press [▶] once, and then press [▼] twice to display the screen shown below.

  7. Press [ENTER].
    The print-head carriage moves to a location where flushing sponge replacement is possible, and the following screen appears.


  8. Open the right cover.

  9. Touch the location shown in the figure to discharge any static electricity.

  10. Press [ENTER] when the following screen appears.

  11. When the following screen is displayed, open the flushing cover.

    Preparation is complete once the following screen is displayed.

    Do not press [ENTER] at this stage. Press [ENTER] after replacing the flushing sponge.

    If you press [ENTER] at this stage, carry out the following procedure.

    1. When the following screen is displayed, close the flushing cover.

    2. Follow the on-screen instructions to close the right cover.
    3. Press [ENTER] when the following screen appears.

  12. Replace the flushing sponge.
    1. Using tweezers, remove the old flushing sponge.

      RemoveFLSponge

    2. Dispose of the removed flushing sponge.
    3. Using tweezers, attach a new flushing sponge.
      IMPORTANT Flushing sponges do not have a specified front or back. They can be attached with either orientation.

  13. Suction out some cleaning liquid with the dropper, and then drip this cleaning liquid in the location indicated in the following figure.

    Use the included dropper.

    Firmly squeezing the dropper and suctioning out the cleaning liquid () fills the dropper with enough cleaning liquid for one location. In each location, use all the suctioned out cleaning liquid. In this procedure, drip the cleaning liquid in one location. Drip the cleaning liquid on the surface () of the flushing sponge.

    IMPORTANT A low amount of cleaning liquid in this location may lead to poor printing quality.

  14. Close the flushing cover.

  16. Close the right cover.
    When the following screen is displayed again, the flushing sponge replacement is finished.
