Replacing the Wiper

The wiper periodically cleans the surface of the print heads.

When the following screen is displayed, it is time to replace the wiper.

Be sure to perform operations as specified by the instructions, and never touch any area not specified in the instructions.

Sudden movement of the machine may cause injury.

IMPORTANT Put on protective eyewear and gloves before performing this work.

Procedure
  1. Press [ENTER] when the following screen appears.


  2. Remove any media.
  3. Press [MENU].
  4. Press [▼] several times to display the following screen.


  5. Press [▶] once, and then press [▼] several times to display the screen shown below.


  6. Press [▶] to display the following screen.


  7. Press [ENTER].
    The print-head carriage moves to a location where wiper replacement is possible, and then the screen shown below appears.


  8. Open the right cover.

    Preparation is complete once the following screen is displayed.


    MEMO

    Do not press [ENTER] at this stage. Press [ENTER] after replacing the wiper.

    If you press [ENTER] at this stage, carry out the following procedure.

    1. Press [ENTER] when the following screen appears.
      MENU_SUBMENU_MAINTENANCE_WIPER_FINISH-CLEANING
    2. Follow the on-screen instructions to close the right cover.
    3. Press [ENTER] when the following screen appears.


  9. Replace the wiper.
    1. Detach the old wiper.
      While pressing the hooks on the left and right sides to release the locks, pull the wiper up and out.

    2. Dispose of the detached, old wiper.
    3. Attach the new wiper.
      IMPORTANT
      • Install the wiper so that surface (1) faces to the right.
      • Insert the wiper as shown in the figure. Hold the hooks on the left and right sides, pressing in just enough so that the locks are not released. Then, gently pull the wiper up and check that it is not removed.

  10. Press [ENTER].
    The screen shown below appears.


  11. Moisten a new cleaning stick with the cleaning liquid.
    IMPORTANT
    1. Be sure to use one of the included cleaning sticks.
    2. Do not use a previously used cleaning stick.
    3. Do not put a previously used cleaning stick into the cleaning liquid.


  12. Wipe off wiper surfaces a and b with the cleaning stick.

  13. Press [ENTER].
  14. Close the right cover.
    When the following screen is displayed again, the wiper replacement is finished.


  15. Press [MENU].
