Important Notes on Handling and Use

This machine has a function to automatically perform periodical maintenance tasks, e.g. to prevent the print heads from drying out. To ensure the maintenance is properly carried out, please observe the following points:

• Make sure that the main power is on at all times.
• Do not leave the front cover and maintenance cover open.

Daily maintenance

To keep this machine in tip-top condition, make sure that daily maintenance is actually performed every day.

Periodical maintenance

To maintain reliable output conditions, some maintenance tasks need to be carried out at least once a month.

Switch the sub power on at least every 2 weeks

Switch the sub power on at least every 2 weeks. When the sub power is on, operations to prevent the print heads from drying out are automatically performed. If the machine is not used for a long period of time, print heads may be damaged. It is important o make sure to include this task in your maintenance schedule.

Maintain the temperature and humidity within the specified range

Even when the machine is not in use, maintain the temperature between 5 to 40°C (41 to 104 °F), with a relative humidity of 20 to 80%, with no condensation. Failure to keep the temperature and humidity within the specified range may cause a machine malfunction.

In advance, insert ink cartridges that have a large amount of ink remaining.

If the ink runs out, the machine will not be able to periodically perform automatic maintenance. If the machine is left in this state, the print heads may malfunction. If you know that you will not use the machine for a prolonged period, insert ink cartridges that have a large amount of ink remaining.

Replace the waste cartridge in advance of prolonged periods of disuse.

If you know that you will not use the machine for a prolonged period, follow the procedure below to replace the drain cartridge. For information about purchasing drain cartridges, contact your authorized Roland DG Corp. dealer.
