Print, Laminate, and Cut: Cutting with Crop Marks
Printed media is removed, laminated or otherwise processed, installed again in the printer, and then cut. The VersaWorks settings are explained here, however for the overall workflow including the printer settings, refer to the "FAQ" manual related to VersaWorks 7.
Step 1: Print with crop marks.
Procedure

Use one of the methods below to open the Job Settings window.
- Double-click the job to set.
- Right-click on the job to set, then click .
- With a job selected, click
on the left side of the job tool area, and then click
Job Settings .

Click
Mark.

Select the Crop Marks (Print &Cut Alignment) checkbox under Marks .
MEMO As necessary, select the crop marks from Entire Area, For Each Row, or For Each Data Entry. Cutting is performed with the same setting.

Click
Cut Controls.
- Select Print Only for Operation Mode.

Click OK.
You are returned to the main window.
MEMO- The print data is an EPS file.
- A cutting line has been drawn around the border.
If both of the above conditions are met, additional settings are required. If you do not configure these additional settings, it may not be possible to cut a part of the border. Configure the settings shown below.
- In the Queue Properties window, click
Layout.
- Enter the value in Margin under EPS .

If you scale the image in the
or window, the size of the margin will also be scaled. -
When you add a job to the job list, the margin set with Margin is automatically added within the range specified by the border.

Perform printing.
The job is printed with crop marks.
Step 2: Cut the Processed Media
Procedure

Set up the media in the printer again.
For details on setting up media that includes crop marks, refer to the printer manual.

Use one of the methods below to open the Job Settings window for the printed job.
- Double-click the printed job.
- Right-click a printed job, and then click .
- With the printed job selected, click
on the left side of the job tool area, and then click
.
IMPORTANT If the Center on the Media checkbox is selected, clear it. If the Center on the Media checkbox is selected, the printing and cutting positions may be misaligned. -
Click
Mark.

Check that Crop Marks (Print &Cut Alignment) under Marks is on.
For the crop marks, select the same settings as at the time of printing (Entire Area, For Each Row, or For Each Data Entry).

Click
Cut Controls.
- Select Cut Only for Operation Mode.

Click OK.
You are returned to the main window.

Perform cutting.
The printer detects the crop marks to adjust the position of the media, and then performs cutting.
Applying Crop Marks Individually to Multiple Images
Depending on the model you are using, this setting may be disabled.
Procedure

Use one of the methods below to open the Job Settings for a job that includes cutting lines.
- Double-click a job that includes cutting lines.
- Right-click a job that includes cutting lines, and then click .
- With a job that includes cutting lines selected, click
on the left side of the job tool area, and then click
Job Settings .

Click
Layout.

Set Copy under Print Properties.
Set the number of copies to output.

Click
Mark.

Select the Crop Marks (Print &Cut Alignment) checkbox, and then choose For Each Row or For Each Data Entry.
- For Each Row: Crop marks will be applied with the row of images treated as a single group.
- For Each Data Entry: Crop marks will be applied to each individual image.
The preview window can be used to check how crop marks are applied. -
Click OK.
