Initializing VersaWorks

VersaWorks may fail to start correctly if data corruption occurs. It may also freeze while configuring jobs settings, etc. In such cases, recovery may be possible from VW7 Data Management.

First, delete the jobs and printing settings. If VersaWorks is not restored, initialize all settings, excluding important data. If VersaWorks still cannot be restored, delete the operation data (important data) from before startup failed.

Step 1: Initializing the Job and Print Properties

Procedure
  1. Exit VersaWorks.
  2. Start VersaWorks VW7 Data Management.
    • Windows 11 (version: 24H2)

      Click Start - All or All apps, and then click VersaWorks 7 - VW7 Data Management.

    • Windows 10 (version: 22H2)

      Click Start, and then click VersaWorks 7 - VW7 Data Management.

    • Mac (macOS 15.2)

      Click Finder under Dock, then click Applications - VW7 Data Management.

    The VersaInit window appears.
  3. Click Initialize.
    The initialization window appears.
  4. Select Job and Print Properties, and then click Initialize.
  5. In the confirmation window, click Yes.
    The job and print properties are initialized.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Close.
    The VersaInit window closes.
  8. Start VersaWorks.
    The operation is completed if VersaWorks is started successfully.

If VersaWorks still cannot be started, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Initializing All VersaWorks Settings

Procedure
  1. Exit VersaWorks.
  2. Start VersaWorks VW7 Data Management.
    • Windows 11 (version: 24H2)

      Click Start - All or All apps, and then click VersaWorks 7 - VW7 Data Management.

    • Windows 10 (version: 22H2)

      Click Start, and then click VersaWorks 7 - VW7 Data Management.

    • Mac (macOS 15.2)

      Click Finder under Dock, then click Applications - VW7 Data Management.

    The VersaInit window appears.
  3. Click Initialize.
    The initialization window appears.
  4. Select All (Exclude Important Data), and then click Initialize.
  5. In the confirmation window, click Yes.
    Excluding the important data, all data is initialized.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Close.
    The VersaInit window closes.
  8. Start VersaWorks.
    The operation is completed if VersaWorks is started successfully.
If VersaWorks still cannot be started, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Deleting Operation Data from before Startup Failed

This section explains how you can select and delete all operation data from before VersaWorks failed to start.

Procedure
  1. Exit VersaWorks.
  2. Start VersaWorks VW7 Data Management.
    • Windows 11 (version: 24H2)

      Click Start - All or All apps, and then click VersaWorks 7 - VW7 Data Management.

    • Windows 10 (version: 22H2)

      Click Start, and then click VersaWorks 7 - VW7 Data Management.

    • Mac (macOS 15.2)

      Click Finder under Dock, then click Applications - VW7 Data Management.

    The VersaInit window appears.
  3. Click Initialize.
    The initialization window appears.
  4. Click Detailed Mode.

    The detailed settings window appears. Click Simple Mode to return to the original window.

  5. Turn on the operation from before startup failed.
    Example:
    • Select Custom Spot Color if a spot color was added.
    • Select Printing Settings File if the printing settings file was changed.
  6. Click Initialize.
  7. In the confirmation window, click Yes.
    The selected operation data is deleted.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Close.
    The VersaInit window closes.
  10. Start VersaWorks.
    The operation is completed if VersaWorks is started successfully.

If VersaWorks still does not function normally, uninstall and reinstall it.
