What Is Variable Printing?
Enable Variable Data Printing

This checkbox can be selected when a file for variable printing has been added to the job.

  • VW7-ICON_VariablePrintFile: Specifies and loads a data file.
  • VW7-ICON_SavetoFile: Saves the data file that was edited with the variable data settings.
  • VW7-ICON_Plus: Adds a line to the data file.
  • VW7-ICON_DustBox: Deletes a line from the data file.

Settings such as the text font and image alignment can be configured when the Enable Variable Data Printing checkbox is selected and a data file (file created with csv or other means containing the path information of the image file that you want to insert) is loaded.

TypeThe item to edit varies depending on the target.

TextWhen the data file is loaded, data that starts with strings that denote paths (such as "C:\") is automatically recognized as image data, otherwise it is automatically recognized as text data.
FontSelects the font type.
FontSizeSets the font size.
TrackingSets the spacing between two characters. Set this to 100 to make the spacing one-character wide.
Auto SizingSelect this checkbox to automatically adjust the font size to fit the text in the variable field when the text is larger than the variable field.
AlignmentSets the alignment of the text in the variable field.
RotateRotates the text in the variable field in units of 90 degrees.
MirrorHorizontally mirrors the text in the variable field.
OpacitySets the opacity of the entire variable field. Set this to 0% to make the target transparent.
Draw on White BackgroundSelect this checkbox to print the background object on top when the background object and the variable field overlap.
EffectClick the following icons to set the text effect:
OffsetSets the offset widths of shadow characters as percentages.
StrokeSets the stroke widths of outlined characters in points.
ColorSets the color of the text and the background color inside the variable field.
Color SettingsClick the square to display the [Color Management] window.
ColorSpaceSelect from RGB, CMYK, or Transparent. White can also be selected for text and backgrounds. If you select RGB or CMYK, you can specify the corresponding values.
Field Special Color Plate GenerationGenerates spot color plates for the area.
Generated PatternSelect the area for generating the spot color plate from Print Area, Outside Print Area, or Entire Area.
DensitySets the spot color plate density.
ImageSets the image for variable printing.
FitSets whether to fit the image in the variable field.
AlignmentSelects the alignment of the image in the variable field.
RotateRotates the image in the variable field in units of 90 degrees.
MirrorHorizontally mirrors the image in the variable field.

MirrorHorizontally mirrors the barcode or 2D code in the variable field.
Error Correction LevelSelect the correction level to ensure the 2D code can be read correctly even if part of the code is dirty or missing. The percentage of missing data that can be recovered increases in the order of L, M, Q, and H, but the data size also increases.

DensitySets the spot color plate density.
Field SettingsYou can set the size and location of the variable field. Either drag the variable field in the layout area or else select Field Settings and specify X, Y, W, and H.
