Medium Cleaning Method

The print heads are important components that discharge ink. They require periodic and appropriate maintenance. When problems such as dot drop-out are not resolved by Normal Cleaning, perform the more forceful Medium Cleaning to remove clogging from the print heads.

IMPORTANT

Medium Cleaning is more forceful cleaning that consumes more ink than Normal Cleaning.

If the object to be printed on is set up before Medium Cleaning is performed, After cleaning, perform a printing test. will be displayed on the Medium Cleaning menu screen. When this setting is turned on, Printing Test will be performed after Medium Cleaning even if Nozzle Drop-out Test is not performed.

Procedure
  1. Check for the print head with dot drop-out or dot displacement by viewing the results of the printing test.
    In the case of the figure below, the space from [A] to [B] is head A.

    If the printing-test results are difficult to interpret

    Check the results in a bright location, changing your line of vision. They are visible using the reflection of the light.

  2. Tap Panel_Icon_TestPrint on the home screen.
  3. Tap Cleaning.
  4. Tap Medium Cleaning.
    The screen shown below appears.

  5. Select the print heads to clean.

    • Both: The following two items are both applicable.
    • Heads A and B: Dot drop-out or dot displacement occurs at [A], [B], or both.
    • Heads C and D: Dot drop-out or dot displacement occurs at [C], [D], or both.
  6. Tap Execute.
    Cleaning will start. The details of the operation in progress and the (approximate) remaining time of that work are displayed in the status bar at the top of the screen.

    When the work is finished, the status bar returns to its original display.

  7. Tap Panel_Icon_Back.
  8. Tap Printing Test.
  9. Select Nozzle Drop-out Test and tap Execute.
    Perform a printing test again to check whether the dot drop-out and dot displacement have been corrected.
    MEMO

    Depending on the color of the object to be printed on, it may be difficult to check the white ink test pattern.

    Tap Panel_Icon_TestPrint on the home screen, select Cleaning - Printing Test - Nozzle Drop-out Test (Base: Black) in that order, and then tap Execute to make the base of the white ink black, making it easier to check the white ink.

    Nozzle Drop-out Test (Base: Black) is not displayed if the machine is not equipped with white ink.

  10. If dot drop-out or dot displacement is present, perform medium cleaning again.

    If problems such as dot drop-out and dot displacement persist even after you have performed Medium Cleaning several times, perform Powerful Cleaning.

    If there is no dot drop-out or dot displacement, proceed to the next step.

  11. Tap Panel_Icon_Home to return to the home screen.
