When Not in Use for a Prolonged Period

In advance, insert ink cartridges that have a large amount of ink remaining.
If the ink runs out, the machine will not be able to periodically perform automatic maintenance. If the machine is left in this state, the print heads may malfunction. If you know that you will not use the machine for a prolonged period, insert ink cartridges that have a large amount of ink remaining.
Replace the drain pack in advance of prolonged periods of disuse.
If you know that you will not use the machine for a prolonged period, replace the drain pack. For information about purchasing drain packs, contact your authorized dealer.
IMPORTANT Do not reuse drain packs. Doing so makes it impossible to manage the amount of discharged fluid, which may overflow.
Perform start-up cleaning before performing daily shut-down cleaning in the following situations.
  • If the printer will not be used for 24 hours or more after performing daily shut-down cleaning

To prevent dot drop-out and dot displacement, perform start-up cleaning before performing daily shut-down cleaning.

  • If the printer is not used for a period longer than one week

Even if you are not using the printer, turn on the sub power once a week and perform start-up cleaning followed by daily shut-down cleaning.

IMPORTANT If the printer is not used for a period longer than one week, the risk of ink hardening increases.
MEMO The printer should not go unused for more than a week. To stabilize ink discharge, constantly operate the printer, even if the amount of daily printing has decreased. This constant printer operation leads to improved print quality.
