Our Basic Stance regarding the Software Support Period

Our basic stance regarding the support period for Roland DG software is as follows.

1. Target Software

Software support is provided for our software, third party software designated by us and for files to update such software. "Software" here refers to the application software of products and drivers for printers and other devices. (excluding firmware).

2. Concept of supported OS versions

The concept of the supported versions of the operating system for the target software is outlined in this section. Even in the following cases, support for the target software for an operating system will cease if the support period including/ the extended support period for the operating system determined by the supplier of the operating system expires. Further, we will determine the method of counting operating systems based on our own methodologies. For details, please see the "Status of supported OS for target software" below.

  1. (1) At the time the target software or the product to which the target software is bundled is released

    Support will be provided for the latest version of the operating system which is being released at the time of the release of the target software or the product to which the target software is bundled, and for operating systems up to two generations older (counting from the latest version of the operating system).
  2. (2) After the target software or the product to which the target software is bundled is released

    If a new version of the operating system is released after the release of the target software or after the release of the product to which the target software is bundled, we will support this new operating system. Support will be provided for operating systems up to two generations older than this operating system, and support for any older operating systems will be ceased.
  3. (3) At the time of the end of the sales of the target software or the manufacturing of the product to which the target software is bundled

    Support will be provided for the latest version of the operating system being released at the time of the end of the sales of the target software or the manufacturing of the product to which the target software is bundled, and for the operating systems up to two generations older (counting from such latest version of the operating system).
  4. (4) After the end of the sales of the target software or after the end of the manufacturing of the product to which the target software is bundled

    Support will be provided only during a period of six years after the end of the sales of the target software or the manufacturing of the product to which the software is bundled. In addition, only the version of the operating system which is released immediately following the latest version of the operating system which is being released at the time of the end of the sales of the target software or the manufacturing of the product will be supported. Operating systems of up to two generations older (counting from the new version of the operating system) will be supported, and support for any older operating systems will be ceased.

3. Support content

  1. (1) Correcting defects of and adding functions to the software on the supported operating systems;
  2. (2) Supporting new operating systems;
  3. (3) Providing software information on our website; and
  4. (4) Other matters which we deem necessary.
We will provide support only to the latest version of the target software.

4. Support period

The support period starts from the release of the target software or the product to which the software is bundled and ends six years after the end of the sales of the target software or the end of the manufacturing of the product to which the software is bundled. We may suspend or cease all or part of the support even during the support period when there are unavoidable circumstances or when we deem it necessary. In such cases, we will give notice in a predetermined manner, such as by giving notice on our website.

5. Status of supported OS for target software

Please see here for the status of the supported operating systems for the target software covered by this document.

6. No Guarantee

Although we will provide the software support firmly, please be aware that defects may not always be resolvable due to reasons such as the compatibility of hardware, including personal computers and peripheral equipment, or the compatibility of software, including operating systems. WE MAKE NO GUARANTEE AS TO THE SOFTWARE SUPPORT.
WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES THAT CUSTOMERS MAY INCUR IN RELATION TO THE SOFTWARE SUPPORT.

7. Amendments

If we amend this document, we will give notice of the amendment in an appropriate manner such as a by a notice on our website.

8. Governing law, jurisdiction

The validity, construction and performance of this document shall be governed by Japanese law. You irrevocably agree that Tokyo District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction for the first instance in respect of any dispute, suit, action, arbitration or proceedings which may arise out of or in connection with this document.
