Step 1: Performing a Printing Test

Before you carry out actual printing, perform a printing test to ensure no dot drop-out or dot displacement occurs. If dot drop-out or dot displacement occurs, perform cleaning of the print heads (normal cleaning).
MEMO

When performing printing tests successively, you can select Feed (vertical printing) or Scan (horizontal printing) as the print position for the second and later tests in comparison to the first test.

When performing horizontal printing, see Performing Printing Tests Arranged Horizontally.

Procedure
  1. Set up the media.
  2. Tap VG3_Panel_Icon_CLEANING Nozzle Drop-out Test on the home screen.
  3. Tap next to Printing Test - Execute.
Printing of the test pattern starts.
MEMO To change the start position for the printing test, configure the following settings.
    1. Tap Output Start Location - Change.
    2. Use the following operations to move the base point mark to the position you want to use to start output.

The base point mark on the right side is the start position.

      AP-640_SetBasepoint_Edge

Use AP-640_Panel_Icon_LEFT or AP-640_Panel_Icon_RIGHT to move the sub carriage in the scan direction (left and right). Use AP-640_Panel_Icon_UP or AP-640_Panel_Icon_DOWN to move the media in the feed direction (forward and backward).

    3. Once the position has been decided, tap Set Base Point Here to confirm it.
  4. Check whether there is dot drop-out or dot displacement in the test pattern.
Missing blocks indicate dot drop-out. Collapsed or inclined blocks indicate dot displacement.

  5. If you have opened the front cover, close it.
If no dot drop-out or dot displacement occurs, preparations for output are finished.
