6. Configure settings to match the media.

To ensure the optimal output according to the media size and type, set the minimal amount of items. All items set here can be set individually as well.

Procedure
  1. On the Heater Temperature screen, adjust the Print Heater and Dryer temperatures.
    • If this is not necessary, tap Next.
    • Follow the procedure below to make changes.
      1. Tap AP-640_Panel_Icon_MINUS or AP-640_Panel_Icon_PLUS to set the Print Heater or Dryer temperature.
      2. Tap Next.
  2. Use the Print Head Height screen to adjust the print head height.
    • If this is not necessary, tap Next.
    • Follow the procedure below to make adjustments.
      1. Tap Change
      2. Open the front cover.
      3. Move the height-adjustment lever to adjust the head height.
      4. Close the front cover.
      5. Tap OK.
      6. Tap Next.

  3. Set the Printing Test and Output Start Location on the Nozzle Drop-out Test screen.
    • Proceed to step 4 if this step is not necessary.
    • Follow the procedure below to set Output Start Location.
      1. Tap Output Start Location - Change.
      2. Use the following operations to move the base point mark to the position you want to use to start output.

        The base point mark on the right side is the start position.

        Use AP-640_Panel_Icon_LEFT or AP-640_Panel_Icon_RIGHT to move the sub carriage in the scan direction (left and right). Use AP-640_Panel_Icon_UP or AP-640_Panel_Icon_DOWN to move the media in the feed direction (forward and backward).

      3. Once the position has been decided, tap Set Base Point Here to confirm it.

        The base point position is updated.

    • Follow the procedure below to perform Printing Test.

      Tap Printing Test - Execute. For details on what to do after the printing test, refer to Normal Cleaning Method.

  4. Tap Next.
  5. On the Select Media Adjustment Method screen, select the adjustment method.
    Here, the media feed correction for reducing horizontal bands and the correction of the landing position of the ink will be adjusted.
    MEMO
    • Simple Correction (Auto) is the recommended adjustment. You can determine the correction values with Detailed Correction (Manual).
    • Follow the procedure below to make automatic adjustments.
      1. Tap Simple Correction (Auto) - Next.
      2. Tap Execute on the Batch Automatic Correction screen. Make sure the printing area required for the printing test is at least 290 mm (11.42 in.) wide before performing adjustment.

        On successful completion of automatic adjustment, the home screen appears. This completes the settings.

        For more information, refer to Automatically Making Required Adjustments.

    • Follow the procedure below to make manual adjustments.
      1. Tap Detailed Correction (Manual) - Next.
      2. Tap Execute on the Multi Sensor Adjustment screen.

        Adjust the reading sensor to the optimal condition. If the adjustment failed, respond to the failure according to the information in Correcting the Reading Sensor.

      3. Tap Next.
      4. Tap Printing Test - Execute on the Detailed Feed Correction (Manual) screen. Make sure the printing area required for the printing test is at least 375 mm (14.77 in.) wide before performing adjustment.

        Set the correction value from the printing test result. For more information, refer to Manual Adjustment: Reducing Horizontal Bands (Feed Correction).

      5. Tap Save and Proceed.
      6. Tap Printing Test - Execute on the Detailed Media Gap Adjustment (Manual) screen.

        Set the correction values from the printing test result. For more information, refer to Manual Adjustment: Adjusting the Misalignment of the Ink Landing Position (Media Gap Adjustment).

      7. Tap Save and Exit.
This completes the setup.
