Printing on a Cylindrical Object

The rotary axis unit is used to print on a cylindrical object (media) while it is rotated.

If the media has a small diameter, reduce the number of nozzles (the feed length) to use. Measure the diameter of the media in advance.

Depending on the model you are using, this setting may be disabled.

Procedure
  1. Perform the operation shown below according to what is being set.
    • Job
      • Double-click the job to set.
      • Right-click on the job to set, then click Edit Design - Job Settings .
      • With a job selected, click VW7_JobMenu1 on the left side of the job tool area, and then click VW7_CustomizeJob Settings .

      The Job Settings window appears.

    • Queue folder: Click VW7_Customize for the queue folder.

      The Queue Properties appears.

  2. Click VW7_Quality Quality.
  3. Select Rotary for Quality Settings - Media Type.
  4. Click VW7_PrinterControl Printer Controls.
  5. Use Rotary Controls to set the number of nozzles to use in printing.
    1. Click Automatic Calculation.
    2. Enter the Media Diameter.
The value calculated from the media diameter is displayed next to Nozzle Amount to Use in Printing.
    3. Click Apply.
    4. As necessary, adjust the number of nozzles to use.
Reducing the number of nozzles increases the printing quality but also increases the printing time. Increasing the number of nozzles reduces the printing time but affects the printing quality due to issues such as the generation of mist because the printed surface is far away. Consider the printing quality and the printing time while making adjustments.
  6. Click OK.
    • Any changes made in Job Settings will be applied, and you will be returned to the main window.
    • When changes are made in Queue Properties:
      • When a message for saving the printing settings appears, click OK.
      • To apply the changes to a job already in the queue folder, right-click on the job and click Copy/Paste Setting Value - Apply Current Queue Settings. The changes are reflected in the layout area of the main window.

  7. Perform printing.
Processing by the RIP and printing are performed.
