Configuring the Cutting Conditions

On printers with cutting capabilities, set cutting conditions from VersaWorks.

MEMO
  • To enable the changed settings, you have to set the printer to give priority to the VersaWorks settings prior to starting cutting. For the printer settings, refer to the printer manual.
  • These settings can also be customized per job using the Job Settings - Cut Controls window.

Step 1: Perform Test Cutting

Procedure
  1. Select the printer to use, and then click VW7_HamburgerMenu (the hamburger menu).
  2. Click Test Cut.
    The following message appears: The following cutting will be performed.

    Test cutting will be performed under the displayed conditions. Check the page size and media type.

  3. Specify the queue folder with Add Job To and click OK.
    The job for test cutting is added to the specified job list, and the test pattern is cut automatically.

    Once the job has been cut, it is automatically deleted from the job list.

  4. Check the results of the cutting test.
    It is necessary to adjust the settings for each item according to the test results.

Step 2: Configuring the Cutting Conditions

Follow the procedure below to configure the cutting conditions on the basis of the type of media or the result of test cutting.
Procedure
  1. Perform the operation shown below according to what is being set.
    • Job
      • Double-click the job to set.
      • Right-click on the job to set, then click Edit Design - Job Settings .
      • With a job selected, click VW7_JobMenu1 on the left side of the job tool area, and then click VW7_CustomizeJob Settings .

      The Job Settings window appears.

    • Queue folder: Click VW7_Customize for the queue folder.

      The Queue Properties appears.

  2. Click VW7-ICON_CutControl Cut Controls.
  3. In Operation Mode, select one of the following.
    • Print & Cut
    • Cut & Print
    • Cut Only
  4. Select the Cut Passes checkbox, and then enter the number of passes.
    MEMO When cutting thick media or hard media, depending on the media, cutting multiple times with lower blade force may give more aesthetically pleasing results than cutting once with higher blade force. Increase the number of cut passes as necessary.
  5. Select the Cutting Conditions Settings checkbox.
    Adjust the setting according to the test cutting results.
    Setting item Details
    Cutting Speed Enter the cutting speed in cm/s.
    Cutting Force Enter the blade force in units of gram-force.
    Blade Offset

    Enter the blade offset value (the distance between the tip and the center of the blade) in millimeters. Enter the offset value for the blade being used.

  6. Click OK.
    • Any changes made in Job Settings will be applied, and you will be returned to the main window.
    • When changes are made in Queue Properties:
      • When a message for saving the printing settings appears, click OK.
      • To apply the changes to a job already in the queue folder, right-click on the job and click Copy/Paste Setting Value - Apply Current Queue Settings. The changes are reflected in the layout area of the main window.
