Performing Cutting
This section explains how to use a printer equipped with a cutting function to cut the media along characters and the contour lines of images.
Paths created in illustration software (such as Adobe Illustrator) are recognized as cutting lines, and the cutting data is then sent to the printer. Recognized cutting lines are displayed in VersaWorks as solid gray lines (diagram 1) in the layout window and as dotted red lines (diagram 2) in the layout area of the Job Settings window.

However, in order to be recognized as cutting lines, paths must meet the following conditions:
- Vector data is used.
- Regardless of type and width, lines in raster data such as bitmap data cannot be recognized as cutting lines.
- Paths are drawn using a spot color named CutContour.
- In advance, register a spot color named CutContour in your application. These names are case-sensitive, so make sure the name is typed correctly. The setting method varies depending on the application. Refer to the instruction manual of your application.
