Customizing Media

In VersaWorks, various media settings (print quality for each mode, total number of paths, dot types, total ink amount, printer profiles, etc.) are registered for each printer. You can create custom media by editing these settings after duplicating one of the existing types of media. You can edit new or existing media without duplicating it if Media List - Attribute is set to User Defined in the Media Explorer window for the media.

Procedure
  1. Select the printer, and then click Media - Media Explorer.
  2. Select the name of the media to edit from the Media List.
If Media List - Attribute is set to Genuine, use the following procedure to duplicate the media.
    1. Select the media to duplicate.
    2. Click Hukusei or right-click and select Copy Media.
      The Copy Media window appears.
    3. Enter the desired media name, and then click OK.
The media is duplicated, and the changed media name is added to the Media List.
  3. Select the media name to edit, and then double-click the print mode to edit in the Mode List.
    • Modes with three layers for layered jobs

The window for selecting Quality Settings or Color Settings appears. Select one of these options and click Next.

If you select Color Settings, use the Layer to select the layer to edit, and then configure the Color Settings.

    • Other modes

      The window changes.

  4. Change the Quality Settings or Color Settings (Calibration Settings, Total Ink Limit, and Profile Settings).
  5. Click OK to close the settings window.
  6. In the Media Explorer window, click OK again.
A window appears to confirm that you want to apply the changes. To do so, click Yes.
    The customized media is saved.
The customized media can now be selected from Job Settings - Quality - Media Type.
