Step 3: Adjusting Cutting

For high-quality cutting, carry out a cutting test to check the cutting quality for the media before you perform actual cutting. As a guideline, the blade should pierce the media with the blade tip extending slightly. Adjust the blade force depending on the cutting quality.

The media thickness varies due to lamination and similar processing, so adjust cutting with the media in the same state as when you perform cutting with crop marks.

Procedure
  1. Tap Panel_Icon_Cutter Blade Adjustment on the home screen.
  2. Tap Change next to Output Start Location.
  3. Tap Panel_Icon_LeftArrow.
    The cutting carriage moves to the current base point.
  4. Tap Panel_Icon_UpArrow, Panel_Icon_DownArrow, Panel_Icon_LeftArrow, or Panel_Icon_RightArrow to move the cutting carriage to the location where you want to carry out the cutting test.
    You can freely set the location for the cutting test.
  5. Tap Set Base Point Here.
  6. Tap Execute next to Cutting Test.
    The test pattern is cut.
  7. Peel off the cut shapes and change the Blade Adjustment - Blade Force according to the cutting quality.
    Check that the two shapes are peeled off separately, a blade trace (red line) remains on the backing paper, and the backing paper is not cut.

    • Two shapes are peeled off separately

      You do not need to perform the setting because the blade force is appropriate.

    • Two shapes are peeled off together

      Increase the blade force.

    • Backing paper is also cut

      Decrease the blade force.

  8. Tap Save.
    The changed settings are saved.
  9. Tap Execute next to Cutting Test.
    The test pattern is cut.
  10. Check whether the correction was successful.
In the Blade Adjustment menu, you can also make settings for other cutting conditions in addition to the blade force.
