Cleaning the Machine on a Daily Basis

As part of daily cleaning, wipe away any buildup of ink or grime that has adhered to the machine. In particular, the flat table is likely to have a buildup of grime. Clean by wiping with a cloth moistened by neutral detergent diluted with water then wrung dry.
WARNING

Never use a solvent such as gasoline, alcohol, or thinner to perform cleaning.

Doing so may cause fire.

IMPORTANT:
  • This machine is a precision device and is sensitive to dust and dirt. Perform cleaning on a daily basis.

  • Never attempt to oil or lubricate the machine.

  • Before performing this operation, remove any objects to be printed on.

  • To prevent the print heads from drying out, try to finish this procedure in 10 minutes or less. A warning beep sounds after 10 minutes.

  • If the warning beep is heard, stop work, close all the covers, and then press [ENTER] to end the manual cleaning mode. After that, restart from the beginning.

Procedure
  1. Remove the object to be printed on.
  2. Move the print-head carriage.
    1. Press [MENU].
    2. Press [▼] several times to display the screen shown below.


    3. Press [▶] once, and then press [▼] several times to display the screen shown below.


    4. Press [▶] to display the screen shown below.


    5. Press [ENTER].
      After "NOW PROCESSING.." is displayed and the print heads move, the screen shown below appears.


  3. Open the front cover.
  4. Open the maintenance cover.
    Remove the screw on the top of the maintenance cover, tilt the maintenance cover forward slightly, and then pull out the maintenance cover in the direction indicated by the arrow.


    The screen shown below appears.


    IMPORTANT:

    Do not press [ENTER] at this stage. Press [ENTER] after cleaning is complete. If you press [ENTER] at this stage, the screen shown below is displayed. Select "NO" and start over from the beginning.



  5. Touch the location shown in the figure to discharge any static electricity.


  6. Clean the locations shown in the following figure.




    Carriage fan and the surface of the print-head carriage Frequently clean the inside of the machine using a vacuum cleaner or by wiping with a cloth moistened with water then wrung dry. If dust and dirt accumulate in the machine, they are likely to affix to printed materials.

    * Foreign objects being present on the table surface may prevent the spacer table and printed materials from being attached horizontally.

  7. When you have finished cleaning, close the maintenance cover.
    Catch the maintenance cover pins on the notches, and then attach the maintenance cover.


  8. Close the front cover.
  9. Press [ENTER].
    The screen shown below appears.


    Perform head refreshing in the following situations.

    • After daily operations.
    • When the message "DO HEAD REFRESH" appears.
    • When dot drop-out or dot displacement occurs.
    • After the "manual cleaning" process (the head refreshing menu is displayed automatically).
    • When an emergency stop occurs.
    • When switching on the main power and sub power after the main power was previously switched off.
    If head refreshing is not necessary, select "NO". When the following screen is displayed again, the cleaning is finished.
