Replacing the wiper cleaner

The wiper cleaner removes ink, dust, and similar substances that have adhered to the wiper during cleaning.

When the following screen is displayed, it is time to replace the wiper.

Procedure
  1. Press [ENTER] when the following screen appears.

  2. Remove any media.
  3. Press [MENU].
  4. Press [▼] several times to display the following screen.


  5. Press [▶] once, and then press [▼] several times to display the screen shown below.


  6. Press [▶], then [▼] to display the screen shown below.

  7. Press [ENTER].
    The print-head carriage moves to a location where wiper cleaner replacement is possible, and then the screen shown below appears.


  8. Open the right cover.

  9. Touch the location shown in the figure to discharge any static electricity.

  10. Press [ENTER] when the following screen appears.

  11. When the following screen is displayed, open the flushing cover while grasping the part indicated by .

  12. Preparation is complete once the following screen is displayed.

    Do not press [ENTER] at this stage. Press [ENTER] after replacing the wiper cleaner.

    If you press [ENTER] at this stage, carry out the following procedure.

    1. When the following screen is displayed, close the flushing cover.

    2. Follow the on-screen instructions to close the right cover.
    3. Press [ENTER] when the following screen appears.

  13. Use a pair of tweezers to replace the wiper cleaner.
    1. While pressing the lock () down, open the wiper cleaner cover.

    2. Remove the wiper cleaner from the protrusions (A) used for positioning, and then pull the cleaner up and out.

    3. Dispose of the detached wiper cleaner.
    4. Attach the new wiper cleaner.
      Insert the wiper cleaner so the holes (A) match the protrusions (B). Because wiper cleaners do not have a specified front or back, they can be attached with either orientation.

  14. Suction out some cleaning liquid with the dropper, and then drip this cleaning liquid in the location indicated in the following figure.

    Use the included dropper.

    Firmly squeezing the dropper and suctioning out the cleaning liquid fills the dropper with enough cleaning liquid for one location. In each location, use all the suctioned out cleaning liquid. In this procedure, drip the cleaning liquid in one location. Drip the cleaning liquid on the surface () of the wiper cleaner.

    IMPORTANT A low amount of cleaning liquid in this location may lead to poor printing quality.

    Suck up the washing liquid with a dropper

  15. Close the wiper cleaner cover and the flushing cover.

    The screen shown below appears.

  17. Close the right cover.
    When the following screen is displayed again, the wiper cleaner replacement is finished.
