Using Heat-resistant Media with Minimal Waste

This machine feeds media to dry the ink until it passes through the dryer after printing. Since parts exposed to the dryer may suffer damage such as deformation or deterioration, which may result in poor printing quality, they are normally left as a margin without printing.

However, for heat-resistant media, there is little heat impact, so you can set the media to be pulled back and print to the part that was exposed to the dryer. If you want to configure this setting, perform a printing test on the media you are using to see if the printing quality is valid.

Procedure
  1. Load the media.
  2. Tap AP-640_Panel_Icon_MENU.
  3. Tap Media Settings - Heater Settings - Pullback After Printing.
  4. Select Enable.
Enable After printing, media is fed to the dryer to dry. The media is then pulled back to start the next printing operation.
Disable After printing, media is fed to the dryer to dry, and then the next printing operation starts. The margin between the print-end position and the next print-start position is set to a value of 420 mm (16.54 in.).
  5. Tap Save to confirm your entry.
  6. Tap AP-640_Panel_Icon_HOME to go back to the original screen.
    MEMO

    Default setting: Disable

IMPORTANT When this function is set to Enable, be sure to check the following points related to printing quality.
    • Is the media wrinkled or deformed after being pulled back?

If wrinkles are occurring, set this function to Disable and stop pulling back the media. This can cause jamming of the media.

    • Is the print quality deteriorating after printing?
